only been able to 4.08 ghz? dude thats actaully a pretty good Overclock.

not with watercooling and the v-core im running i should be able to hit alot higher i can only get a 240mhz fsb ive seen people with 260mhz fsbs but i dont know what mobo there running...i think id have more luck with the IC7 max 3 series but id like to know what otheres are using

Well I'd try a Abit IC7 MAX 3 is you can find one, or an Asus P4C800-E Deluxe. Both of those are known to have the best overclocking potential.

I got a 3.4E and i can only hit 4.01 with 236 FSB and a v core of 1.6V with watercooling too, i thinks it because of the stepping, mine is a D0 stepping, i heard the E0's were better oc'ers. And i have an ASUS P4C800 Deluxe.

Same here. 3.4E D0 stepping that can only do 4 GHz stable on water. Needs lots of vcore to do it. I can get it all the way to 4.3 for screenies, but 4's the highest that it's prime stable.

yea mines a D0 as well so i guess 4.08 isnt that bad afterall its funny its rock solid at 240mhz fsb with a 1.5375 v-core but it wont even post the bios screen at 241 at any vcore...WEIRD, maybe its some sort of protection built into the mobo

Mine: P4 3.4E D0 on Asus P5AD2 Premium. Watercooled, I can get to about 247 FSB (4.216) , depending on ambient temperatures with a 1.55 vcore.. With a water chiller, I can push into the low 4.3 range, and that's about it.

Are those prime stable, or just screenshot/benchmark stable?

In the case of the chiller, I didn't run it for hours as it was just an experiment and I didn't want to go to the hassle of condensation-proofing everything. But, it seemed stable over the period I looked at it. That was with ~5C water in the loop.

The values on simple water are long-term stable.

The chiller experiment really pointed out how the temperature vs OC curve starts to get really steep; ie you have to push lower and lower to get a smaller and smaller benefit. Not worth it, IMO.

Did you ever try running more voltage through it? 1.55 isn't that high. (Unless those were actual voltages)

I pushed the vcore as high as 1.65 nominal in the chiller exp., but again it's an issue of diminishing returns. Running it higher with simple water doesn't buy me enough speed to justify the extra heat output. At 4.2 and 1.55, I'm riding the edge of what my water can handle on a warm-ish day.

Isn't the heat output of these chips amazing? I can tell a difference in the temp of my room if I've been running my prescott overclocked or stock.

Yeah, absolutely. I have my home office in a 300 sq. ft.studio separate from the house, and the Prescott provides the only (and quite adequate) heating. Granted it's northern California and not Minessota, but still....
