If you look at my sig you'll see my setup. A friend of mine bought a 3.4e Prescott @ 3.4Ghz and he wants to trade me his for mine. He says he would like to OC it, and since I don't OC, that I would benefit from his 3.4E's 1MB cache. I know about the Prescott's and how they run hotter and I have seen the benchmark comparisons already between the two.

But......

If you were ME or you were presented with this situation, would you do it? Keep in mind that his 3.4e isn't even out of the box yet.

Your opinions are greatly appreciated.

If it was me i would keep the 3.4c. The northwood is faster in a lot of the tests than a prescott at the same speed. No need to downgrade unless you are getting something else out of the deal.

actually i've been hearing that the prescotts at higher speeds seem to take over the northwoods. However since your not overclocking i would definately keep the northwood.

edit: nvm at those stock speeds the northwood is still going to pull slightly ahead of the prescott. Like i said before if your not overclocking your better off with the northwood

Your "friend" has it backwards.

The Northwood (3.4c) is faster not overclocked.

The Prescott (3.4e) should overclock to a higher speed, given suficent cooling.
