I have a 3.4 EE, and I paired it with an 865 chipset Intel desktop board to test it.. It shows up as a 3.4 with the M0 stepping, but it does not recognize the 2mb of L3 cache when using Sandra or CPUID. When I use the Intel CPUID program, the revision comes up as 0f25, which when I look ok the Intel site, comes up as a 3.0 P4. Anyone know if the 865 chipset (latest BIOS) is not able to see the L3 cache? Is it only the 875 boards?

were you using the newest version of cpu-z? I ran prescotts on my 865 w/o a problem, i'd imagine the EE's would work fine.

Yes. Newest version. the chip runs fine, its just not picking up the L3 cache in the BIOS. Or at least doesnt display it.

I see, if you can get access to an 875p board I would give it a try on there, or perhaps anoteher 865 board besides the intel one. Can you post an screenshot of what cpu-z is saying?

Its worked fine on an 875 chipset when I had it on my DFI board. I was just curious if the 865 for some reason doesnt work with the EE. I'll post it when I get home tonight. What I remember from it was a stepping of M0, and $0F25 somewhere. Which I am assuming is the revision.

Heres 2 pics of the chip.

that might just be a rejected gallatin 3.4C

whats the sspec?

edit: it seems there were no M0 rev 3.4C's, so if it has the stock clock of 3.4, it just seems like your bios is picking it up wrong... i dont think its a problem with all 865's though.

Thats what I am confused about. It says it supports it, but, it shows up as a 3.4 with a rev of $0F25 which on the Intel site says 3.0

Then on this page, here shows that the board is NOT supported, and only the D875PBZ is. (You have to go to page two to see the supported Intel boards.)
