Hey, I'm new here, and new to overclocking, I've been reading up and I was wondering what kind of speeds others are getting out of their 3.0c. This is my first overclock and it is on air, 3.4 @ 1.58 volts. I started off with a 5% overclock since it was my first time, and I've moved up to here. What exactly are the main things I should look out for, what are unsafe voltages and what are the most limiting factors? Thanks for any help.
 
try not to use anything over 1.7volts. and if the computer crash's its unstable but i think you know that.
 
Before you start upping your vcore check what your temperatures are. Also run some kind of test program (Prime95) to see if it is stable, after you find what you believe to be your highest stable you should run Prime95 for a good time (24hours). If that passes then you are probably 100% stable.
 
what i do to find my processors max speed is set the ram to 2/3 speed, and max out the latencies. that will isolate the overclock to your cpu, that way when you get instabililty you can isolate it to your cpu. then after you find your cpu's max, you can work exclusivly with the ram adjusting latencies and speeds.

Just dont rush it, its a very methodical process and rightfully so, u dont wanna blow anything up. See how far youll get with stock vcore, then bump it up once and go far with that again. 1.7 should be your ceiling, or a bit below.

since it says you have poor cooling, id venture to say try not to give the cpu too much vcore, maybe dont go over 1.65 or less. What kind of CPU cooling do u have, stock? your gonna have to change that if your gonna OC that thing safely.
 
Well, I have a little plan for this summer, plan on getting a new case, then a sata drive(mobo has onboard controller) to replace my ancient seagate 5200, which is extremely loud, then I'll probably get a cpu cooler, I was thinking about a sp-94 or maybe the 120 mm version if it is out by the time I get around to buying a cooler. Anyways thanks for the info
