My current computer is about to die and so I'm going to trash it and build a new one...

Some important things to know: I do NOT overclock stuff, it's just not worth the hassle. So don't recommend things on it's overclocking abilities. Thank you. Second, money is an issue. I mean, I can afford the best stuff and I'll happily pay for the best stuff, as long as its really cost efficient. I don't want to pay, for example, an extra $300 on an FX when I can get a 3800+ thats showing similar benchmark results...Also, my main use from this computer isn't going to be database crunching or movie making, it's going to be gaming, so that's all I really care about as far as numbers are concerned...

Now, first, which is better...the 3.0C or the 3200+? I've seen contradicting benchmarks and I decided to just come here and ask you...

Second, is the difference between the 3200+ and the 3400+ enough to warrant the increase in price? Again, I don't care about overclocking so don't tell me that I can overclock the 3200+ to a 3249834959353+.

And finally, if a different proc that I haven't mentioned, UNOVERCLOCKED, is something that you feel is the most cost efficient, powerful proc that you would spend your hard earned money on, let me know what it is, thanks...

Thank you.

unoverclocked, the AMD processors would be a better bet for your money. The ratings of the Athlon64's is very close to their closest intel counterparts. Although i wouldn't have posted this in stictly intel, since your also trying to decide wether to get an AMD processor.

agreed. If you're gaming get an A64.

Agreed, definitely go for an Athlon 64 if your rig will be used primarily for gaming.

Your best buy would be a 3200+, I wouldnt pay the extra for a 3400+, put that money towards a better graphics card instead, that will give you the best performance for your money.
