Hey guys, i recently installed vista ultimate. Will sli work with my 6600's and dx10? Cus i've installed every 'vista sli' driver nvidia has to offer, and I don't get the enable sli option in the CP, ever.. Could it be because there is only one 6600 listed in my device manager? Or does windows recognize the other one once sli is enabled?

I'm out of ideas.. i've tried everything.. I can't seem to find anyone with the same problem, i've searched and searched.. any ideas?
 
dx10 wont work with 6600's

only 8 series are DX10 compatible

as for the SLI thing, both shopuld be in the device manager, so it isnt picking up one of your cards... check yer bios and update to the latest drivers.

sli doesnt work too well in vista though, so it might be better just to scrap that idea altogether.
 
thanks for the quick reply.. Yea i just thought maybe dx10 was screwing with the sli.

Nothing to switch in the BIOS. Just the little key card on the an8. Tried all 3, or 4 versions of the drivers that were supposed to pick up sli. It seems that vista just isn't picking up both cards.. sigh, i'm gonna have to get a new card.
 
Have you tried running each card by itself to make sure that they both work? Also, try to change the little card thingy on the motherboard to make sure that you have it set right, as well as make sure it is in all the way to the motherboard.
 
I think then that the problem may be in the motherboard, either malfunction w/ hardware or a BIOS or driver issue. Not too sure how to proceed beyond that. Maybe un/reinstall your motherboard drivers? Update BIOS?
 
Vista is known to have issues with SLI. Besides, the state of current drivers in said OS are slow to the point where even if you did get both cards working you would see little difference in performance over a single card in XP...

Hell, my 7950GT is slower in Vista than my old 6800GT was in XP if that tells you anything...
 
Figured it out. I had both cards intalled from the get go. So right after installation, for some reason it only saw it as one card. So I uninstalled the card showing, rebooted. Removed second card, booted up. Vista recognized it, rebooted, installed the second card, booted up, and it recognized that one. Thank God, musta just been cus it never actually saw just a single card in the system.

Thanks for the help, i'll test it out and let u kno how performance is.
