So I have this seasonic 650watt PSU and this server case with some old AMD hardware I am going to get rid of. I am looking at getting dual 4174 HE's and a Tyan S8225 Dual socket board off ebay. The PSU has a 4 pin and an 8 pin CPU connector. The board has dual 8 pin connectors. Can I use an 8 pin in one and a 4 pin in the other and be fine using those processors? And is this setup even worth the 300 bucks for FAH? I'm wanting to get into folding, but I am on a really tight budget and since the Core Xeons were out I figured I would move up to some 6 core AMD's.

Ah, nice thanks it has two, it is a pretty new PSU so that will work great. As for the CPU's how well do those 4174 HE's perform?

well you'll have 12 cores at 2.3 ghz, but to tell the truth, not many people in this section have dual C32 as it isn't worth the power for the low ppd you would get.

i would recommend pocketing the money you've saved so far and put it towards one of these tasty 4p G34 rigs that have been appearing on the DC FS/T recently.

Hmm, sounds like a plan then, GO BIG OR GO HOME :D. Thanks for the input and answering my noob questions lol, have yet to deal with any multi-processor systems except my old dell dual P4 system with a scuzzi lol.
