So I've just finished building a new PC for my uncle with a pair of Seagate Barracuda LP 2TB drives in RAID1 as secondary storage, and one of the drives is consistently failing to detect after a cold boot. The drive detects just fine after a reboot.
Here are the full system specs:
i5 4590
Asrock H97M Anniversary
16GB PNY DDR3 RAM
PNY CS1100 240GB SSD
2x 2TB Seagate Barracuda LP in RAID1
ASUS DRW-24B1ST DVD-RW
Corsair CS450M PSU
Cooler Master N200 Chassis
Windows 8.1 Pro 64
I've tried swapping the SATA cable and the port the drive is connected to on the motherboard. I've also already updated the motherboard's BIOS. No change.
After googling around a bit, I've found other people have had the same problem, such as here: http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/346550-second-hard-drive-wont-show-up-until-restart/
I've previously tested both drives on another system and had no issues. My primary suspect is the motherboard, but overall I'm at a bit of a loss.
Anyone have experience with this kind of problem and able to help?
