So i have two hard drives in here:

- The first 120gb one is partitioned into two, like 35 and 80 or something, but that doesnt matter
- The second 120gb is partitioned into a 20 gb part, and the rest is unused, so every once in a while, ill just be doing crap on the computer, and the second HD (i keep my music on it) shuts down. I can hear it do the whirring down thing

so why would it do this? couldi t be overheating? or possibly cuz the power's plugged in after a few fans? Also, It would really suck if it corrupted my music files, so is there a chance that it might?

Thanks

Check your power options. You probably have your HDDs set to power down after 20 mins or something. In my case, my OS drive usually stays running, while my storage drives spool down after 20mins to save some power.

no, its set to never, and plus, i forgot to mention, when after it turns off, it turns on after a few seconds, but it only does that sometimes. when it does, it does it a few times before i shut down for fear of corruption

EDIT: So it did it again, so i turned off my comp, but when trying to reboot, it wouldnt detect either hard drive, an di tried that a few times and it didnt work. so after a few minutes i open up my case (in case its cooling) and try it, and it works. maybe it was just luck?
