I have a spare aqua computer d5 ( i thought i lost it) and was wonder if i should split my single loop in to 2 or is it a waste?

my current system
gtx 970 mini, 5820k, 2 aquacomputer 240 rads, aquaero, and d5 pump.

thanks

I would put the two pumps in serial as a single loop. It will boost flow rates somewhat, but the primary benefit will be redundancy.

This. Instead of being screwed when either D5 fails, only be screwed if BOTH D5s fail. You might be able to reduce the pump speeds and enjoy reduced noise with similar or better flow rates.

Parallel flow is good for multi-gpu setups, but even then it's best to leave the pumps in serial and split the flow to the GPUs with an appropriate SLI manifold.

Two D5s in serial increase head pressure. The increased head pressure through a highly restrictive system will increase flow. But, it won't do much for a rig without a lot of restrictions, except add a safety net in case one fails.

Martin's Liquid Labs did a great test / write up on it.

Multi Pump Setups – Parallel vs. Series
