Respectfully disagree. I'd have a much harder time enjoying a modern X-com game that relied on figures from religion and mythology than one that relied on extraterrestrial life and UFOs. Demons seem to be fine, and fit well in games like Diablo or Dragon Age, but in my mind a modern day game needs a more "real" threat than what in my mind are nothing more than make-believe mythical creatures. Not that UFO's are real or anything, but it's hardly a leap of faith for me to believe that theirs alien life somewhere out there. Whether or not it's intelligent is an entirely different can of worms.

Either way, I'd rather fend off high tech UFOs and learn from alien technology, than to see Diablo, Lord of Terror, invade X-com. :p

Moreover, I just don't see how the originals can make a good transition to an FPS without retaining some of the elements (squad based combat anyone?) that were definitive of the series.
