Memory question.

O.K. here is the scenario.

I have a ECS 570 SLI-t motherboard with an nForce 570 chipset.

I purchased OCZ XTC 2048MB PC5400 DDR2 667 Mhz for this MB.

Now -

I upgraded to the ASUS Striker Extreme motherboard with an nForce 680i chipset, and purchased Corsair Dominator 2048MB PC6400 800 Mhz.

So - I have 2GB PC5400 667Mhz Ram & 2GB PC6400 800 Mhz Ram.

Can I use all 4 sticks for combined total of 4 GB?

or - Is it better just to use the faster memory at 2 GB

Currently running XP Pro - MCE 2005

Other system components:

E6600, 7950 GT, (2) Raptor X RAID 0, (1) WD 500 GB, X-Fi Fatal1ty, Plextor PX755SA, Antec 900

Thanks!

That OS isnt 64bit is it? if its 32bit then it will only recognize 3gb of memory, and the PC6400 ram will run at the speed of PC5400 to match your already existing PC5400 ram.

you can add all 4 sticks to the system, it will still boot up, but im sure your windows media center edition will only recognize 3gb of it and it will all run at PC 5400.

XP operating systems really dont need more then 2gb of ram imo. Vista on the other hand will benefit greatly with 2gb+
