You can't just register, you have to be invited. GMail hasn't gone public yet.

they arent accepting any more apps... only if you purchase it.

I figured this would eventually happen. Although now there's that stupid company offering 1TB email space.

Yahoo just bumped their free acounts up to 100MB which is awesome! I'm glad all these other places started offering the 1GB and 2GB accounts to force Yahoo and some of the others into giving up some storage :).

Nods head vigorously in agreement

Competition is a wonderful thing ey

Edit:

I just signed up for spymac...now that has to be the best of all of them. Free 100 meg webhosting, blogs, and 1gb email. A big thx for the heads up on spymac! :)

Aventure Mail ErrorWe are currently not accepting new registrations. Accounts can be purchased in our store (http://www.aventuremail.co.uk/store) in the mean time.

I will stick with my gmail account i got yesterday, and the email i get for free with my website hosting plan :)

We're sorry, your account is currently disabled so you are unable to use this service. If you have just registered and the operators of Aventure Mail require user validation, your account will not be functional until they activate it. You will be notified by email (*******@cogeco.ca) when your account is activated.

I got this today after using it for a week! AND there is no activation crap in my inbox...

WTF?!?! They can stuff there email, i'll stick with gmail!

Mee too, been using it for a week and now i get the same message. Oh well, hopefully they are just weeding out some bad applicants and the service will be restored to us. If not i won't worry, i really like spymacs offering better anyway, you can access it via outlook/pop3, free 100megs webhosting, free personal blog etc.

hey m8.. i dont see the optoin for the 100 mb webhosting... can u link me to it or temme where th eoptoin is??? I clicked on HOSTING but i dont see "free 100 mb hosting" anywhere..

I just got an invite to gmail as well, and I have my own email given by school and my domain name, so I think I'm all set for now...

Also, yahoo has 100 MB of mail storage now.

As for Gmail, it scans your email, but it's all computer based; it's not like they have 10 million people reading every single email you get. If you're really paranoid, how about the fact that Gmail has stated that none of your emails will ever get truly deleted?

I swear, if I hear one more of you dumbasses say that gmail reads your email, I'm going to have another ulcer.

I'd be more hesitant signing up for this thing, considering I was unable to locate any sort of privacy statment or user agreement or any such thing.

Have fun though.

Gmail reads you're email and then targets ads towards the content of your messages. Also, when you delete a message from Gmail it will most likely remain in Google's mailspace for a long period of time.

I have a Gmail account but I'm gonna sign up anyway. Thanks for the post.

Key word is "in the meantime"...so they WILL start their free sign-up again but they're prolly saving up or upgrading their systems since word spread about their service faster than they thought....
