A little birdie told me the 2900 XT has a fill rate of ~ 20 GigaTexels/sec. Compare that to the 8800 GTX which has 36.8. The 8800 GTX has about twice the fill rate of the 7900 GTX, and suprise suprise, the 8800 is twice as and sometimes even more fast as the 7900.
