280x crashes anytime 3d is used?

brand new powercolor 280x on a fresh install of windows 7 .... crashes everytime i do anything 3d graphics related... thinking its a bad card?? drivers maybe?
 
13.9's are the most stable but I've been using the beta v8 drivers without issue in BF4. If you are on 64 bit Win7, goto run and type dxdiag... Look at the bottom tabs and choose the force 64 bit DX. It seems to help for some on a fresh install.
 
I have 13.11 i think its the v8, it shows up as a 7970 in hw monitor... but gpu z has it as a r9 200 series... i haven't overclocked it or anything... wondering if I am getting a lack of power issue I have a corsair hx750 with a gigabyte 990fxa ud3 and a fx 6300 @ 4.5ghz (1.49vcore) (57c fullload) that tests stable in prime95 and 2 1tb hd's also 3 140mm fans and 2 120mm fans on the corsair all in one watercooler.
 
i switched some wires around and now it seems to be working fine, we will see i suppose may have just been me experiencing user error.... ><
 
yea all everything i think it was that the wires were not seating correctly... (yes epic user fail) also one other thing i can add is that i had to up the memory voltage and gpu voltage to get it solid stable but have since put it too 1100mhz (1.21v) and 6000mhz (1.53v) 100% stable just a lil oc for me... seems like a solid card once you adjust the fan speed curve for better cooling.... needs a lil tweaking out of the box though.. but for 299 i'm happy.
