280GTX & MW2 issues

I am running 196.34 and am having weird problems with Modern Warfare 2. The screen will occasionally freeze and invert some colors, there is also some hitching occasionally. If I hit control alt delete and then cancel, the driver resets and the game returns to normal temporarily. I did not have this problem when the game first came out. I have been monitoring temps (which never exceed 85 or so) and have turned the fan to 100% without any changes. Any ideas?
 
underclock the card and see if problem goes away.....if it does, card is failing, bake it.

Sadly this is true, I had to drop my OC from my 8800GTS in order to play this game. That being said it still runs surprisingly well on my rig...
