270x crossfired. one off mining riser?

I powered down my mining rig and it's 2 Dell OEM Radeon R9 270X. Not worth it to me to keep going.. Short experiment, was up for 2 days and I cashed out.

Now I'm trying to figure out what to do with it. The box is my old gaming computer which isn't bad except the Athlon X3 445 is quite anemic and will not unlock. Running one card, Super Position benchmark scores well in 720p resolution but horrible above that.
I know that Crossfire is dead, but the mobo only has 1 x16 slot ( which main card is slotted ).. Will a riser card work with crossfire? If I bought the crossfire link cable of course.
 
No point in upgrading what is just a second box.. rig in my sig is what I game on and it rocks 1080P.. I was curious about this for fun
 
It might "work", but not very well. If memory serves me the second card runs at 8x. Pushing it down to 1x would probably negate any performance increase you got. Toss the cards on eBay. A miner will buy them.
 
hmm yeah, that makes sense.. I've only ever ran single card setups.
 
bandwidth is not a issue it will work as well as a 270x crossfire ever would
