Waiting on ups to drop off new lcd from walmart dot com, time seams to run really slow when your waiting for ups/fedex/usps to drop off packages. The 27 inch lcd is great buy at 1109 us dollars, includes shipping and handling and tn taxes. Its got a dvi connector for the pc with a resolution of 1280 x 768, and high def hookups and assorted goodies. I may game a little with it mostly to replace 17 inch samsung lcd with a 4:3 aspect ratio for the 27 in wide screen with 16:9. Any other time drop off would have been around noon but for some reason its taking forever. :( I would like to see doom 3 running on it soon as well as Band of Brothers on dvd. With new lcd I can replace the ViewSonic Video Processor/TV Tuner Box and remove some extra clutter thats accumalated on desk, and maybe replace desk with something a little more elagent than a 40 dollar folding desk. :)
 
Post some pics when you get it :) doesn't seem like too bad a price. Anyone know if Wal-Mart has any restocking fee or other restrictions on LCD TV returns? I'm tempted to try one of these out and see if it will work well enough to replace my 2001fp

/Edit Looks like the wal-mart website has it listed at 15ms for response time, wonder if they have them in store? I might have to go check this one out in person. Really like the fact that it s available in a darker color instead of just silver.

Oh and does anyone know what company manufactures these for wal-mart?
 
Hell, that thing looks really nice.

Just looked it up in walmart and I might pick it up myself tonight to replace my 22" crt.

Whats the max resolution on that baby? I'm guessing 1024xXX?
 
That looks good. I want a 27" or 30" LCD for my tv and movies. No stores have them in stock, only online. So many stores have them online though. None of the brands I've ever heard of though.

Anybody recommend any of these? I've heard and read reviews the the Syntax Olevia LCD's are really nice though.

syntax is a new brand, very nice stuff.

westinghouse has always has stuff at walmart/target dunno if its good.

apex made my old school dvd player was cheap (inexpensive) as hell, but it sucked, but i guess you get what you pay for. the apex tv's i've seen look nice.
 
Man, the pixel pitch on that must be insanely high. How can you stand that at such a close distance?
 
First off that looks pretty sweet, congrats.

Resoultion on Most the 27" LCDs including this one is 1280x768, some of the 30" ones have a slightly different resolution I think.

Right now I'm between the 27" ilo from walmart and the 27'' or 30" syntax olevia since I could probably pick it up local from MicroCenter. The ilo has my interest since It comes in a dark gray color.

Does that ilo let you do split screen or a PIP overlay w/ the PC (DVI) and Componet Input source? I'm thinking about getting this and a HD Tuner to replace my current 27" CRT TV and 20" monitor.

Ahh decisions decisions, shall see what prices do after Christmas when I'm ready to buy. So web-surfing is tolerable on that beast I take it? And any idea what resonably priced wall mounts would work w/ this?

Pretty good price. I was personaly looking at the dell 20 inch widescreen lcd or 2/3 17 inch lcds but that may be something to look into for gaming.
 
Really the piture quality is not that bad at this close, dss looks great but cable is so grainy and overall not close to vhs. The pc though looks great, did watch alittle band of brothers on the pc dvd looked awsome. Surfing the web is a seen to believe, never did I think a big 27 Inch would ever fit on a cheap desk without crushing it, the weight of it is less than 36lbs. might wieght it, and you can take the stand off if you buy the optional wall mount.


The max res on it is 1280 x 768.

The screen is so big its hard to get a really nice pic of it, might post more if I can get a desent shot..

I've got some of the pip worked out, but the sv does not show up might be a bad cable.
 
how does the cable input really look? good? bad? okay? horrible?

I want one for mostly tv but also for my computer every once in a while to watch movies. Would it be worth it to just go for a 30" widescreen HD tv instead?
 
From the picture the cable looks okay to me. In person how does it look compared to say a 27" "crt type" of normal tv?
 
Well I don't have a hdtv turner yet for it and its weird how widescreen shows and letterbox , its like its not in a native resolution, looks stretched out.

The few i've seen show the blacks more better than this lcd, and cost half the price but then the crt's are about 100-200 hundred pounds compared to around 30 pounds, which is mostly why I bought this was its lighter when I have to move anytime in the future.

Theres the arc button that lets me change from normal, full, zoom and periscope.
 
From the picture the stretch doesnt look that bad. Do you think when it's full screen on normal cable the stretch is bad?
 
Well anything but normal looks stretched, see normal shows 4:3, full blows it up so your missing some of the top and bottom, zoom does almost the same, periscope does the best but it stretches toward the sides while the center stays the same, if that makes sence.

Overall I think its good screen for the price and the footprint of the screen base keeps it at a far enough distance that I can lean back in my chair and be really happy.
