I'm looking for the Cheapest 27" HDTV with HDMI or DVI inputs. The lowest i can find is about 550.00 with the same thing without the HDMI or DVI inputs being 350.00 and still an HDTV monitor. Is the input worth the 200.00 difference? wtf is up with this? Can anyone help me find these inputs at a lower price point? Thanks. I'm not looking for an LCD. Just CRT tv.

Sorry if this wasn't clear in the original post, but I don't want an LCD TV and I don't want to spend more than 500.00. Ideally I want one of the 350.00 -400.00HDTV's but its got to have DVI or HDTV inputs.

O ok. Well, there was a thread here just yesterday that mentioned various 27'' TV's. Good luck trying to find one with DVI though.

o_O this is the problem i'm having.... Anyone know why the lack of these features near this price range? Or am i missing something, and can i actually find one with a dvi or hdmi input?

Asking why you can't find an HDTV with DVI inputs for 350$ is sort of like asking why you can't find any new cars with a v12 engine for nine grand. You get what you pay for.

350-400 will buy a 27" hdtv just fine. Why no dvi or hdmi inputs? This ought to be along the line of an additional couple of cupholders, not 6 extra cylinders, i'm not asking for 1080p resolution or a 50" HDTV or anything. This is just plain jane tube tech that i'm sure is lower tech than my 19" P95+B viewsonic monitor that only set me back 300, and that thing supports some insanely huge resolutions, and only uses an old VGA input. DVI connection ought not to be too tough, or is this thing not really a digital HDTV and just plain analog?

So, the short of this is, why no high quality inputs at the lower price point?

Want to get a reburbished?

Check out this Philips 30" wide screen TV with DVI input. 540$US.

This is a flat screen direct view TV, not a flat panel LCD TV.

Link to Philips store

Because it has a DVI input doesn't necessarily mean that you can hook up a PC to it. You should call Philips support about this.

It is a high def monitor, with a standard defintion dual tuner, which means that you can connect an antenna or cable TV and watch two shows in PIP or split screen.

Yeah, for $350 you'll barely even get a mediocre regular 27" tv.

This comment screams bullshit.

I have in my possession right now, an RCA entertainment Series 27inch SDTV that was under 200 dollars, and is pretty god damn good.

EDIT

whoops, thats supposed to be 200, not 20. LMAO.

I haven't paid much attention to standard TV's lately to even care. 1yr ago my crappy 27" Sylvania cost 260 and it's about the worst TV I've ever seen or owned.

Why don't you want a LCD display?
I have just moved into a very large bedroom, and would like a display that is at least 27" or larger, and don't have 800+ to put down on an LCD. (also, i've got some wariness about the longevity of an LCD over a CRT, as I know Tubes that are still going strong after 10+ years, but thats not THAT important)
The short of things is that i've got a big room, and need a big tv, on a lower budget than I can afford for an LCD. I've already got my 19" viewsonic monitor that i've been watching DVD's on but its way too small so an LCD wouldn't be much bigger in the $450 or so price range.

I really want the funcitonality and features of HDTV, even if it won't hook up to my computer's DVI i want the high-def inputs for HD cable etc, and will be running an HTPC somehow too... Also want to be able to hook my ps3 up to it when it comes out, I assume PS3 will have some sort of Hi-Def outputs like DVI or HDMI, or will be convertable to this as its supposed to support 1080p res realtime...

Also, I wouldn't mind a refub tv, if it suits my needs, and is from a reputable company.

i'll look at it, but its still about 70$ or so more than i was looking to pay. 450 is really my budget ceiling as of right now. Guess i could save and wait...

Thanks all for your feedback.

PS3 isn't going to be in HDTV, you need XBOX 360 for that, noob :p ;)

Sorry if this is off topic, but that comment is just plain misinformed.

Not only is the ps3 going to support HDTV out of the box, it will do it on 2 HDTV's at once. Full 1080p if you have the dough to have 2 1080p HDTV's at least...

PS3 RSX Spec:
RSX @550MHz
1.8 TFLOPS floating point performance
Full HD (up to 1080p) x 2 channels
Multi-way programmable parallel floating point shader pipelines

Linkage for verification via IGN:

Edit:
also, this thread can be locked up if anyone feels so inclined. I'm not buying an HDTV in the near future anymore as i've recently made some different purchases.

lol, after reading your sig, I decided to mess with you a little
thought all the smilies would make it obvious I was joking

sorry, missed the sarcasm, it was late, and I just found out a 512mb stick of ddr i've got is toast, literally a couple of fried contacts -.-

you're forgiven, except for the fact that you tried to defend the xbox360

so what do you have against the xbox 360?
from what I've seen, it looks pretty cool

pretty cool, maybe. Is it still hardware backed by gates? yep.

Thats my only real caveat, call me a stubborn sonofab* but i detest MS hardware by default. Plus i'm always partial to something thats more powerful, and the ps3 is purported to be on the order of twice as powerful as the xb360

1 teraflop [xbox360] to 2teraflop [PS3]

I think Sanyo may make a small 27" HDTV for around $500 with HDMI input.
I bought the 30" 16x9 HDTV for $649 and it has a digital tuner in it so you can watch over the air HDTV with a pair of rabbit ear antenna, as well as an HDMI input, 2 Component inputs, 2 Video inputs, and an Analog Coax in for normal TV and Cable.

While the PS3 has more CPU power, and one could argue that the PS2 had more than it's xbox counterpart, the 360's graphics engine appears to be far more capable than the recooked 6800 in the PS3... It's good today, sure, but it's certainly not next gen. As for HDTV's, good luck finding a 720P crt- 1080i versions are notoriously terrible for hooking up to computer components as well as using for anything other than video.

Recooked DUAL 6800 :D :D :D

While the ATI cooked up GPU for the xbox might be awesome, nobody really knows anything nearly as in-depth as the writeup [H] did for the new xbox GPU about the ps3 gpu yet. once the true specs come out, more info about the cell processor works, and more info about RSX it will be interesting to see which graphics is really on top. the ps3's cell processor is rumored to run at around 5ghz though sooooooo think what you may.

yeah, 780P seems like my best bet if i can find one low enough -.-

Or around 3ghz, with only 7of the 8 cells operational to improve yields. Thing is, we know that PS3's GPU is well grounded to Nvidia's split shader tech in the 6800- whereas ATi's is a new technology (that Nvidia will follow after the next update, but ATi will release on 360 and replace the current r300/400 tech [unfortunately mostly the same thing]). Think of it this way; PS3/next gen Nvidia is to the 6800 as the X8X0's are to the 9700 Pro (original R300 inplementation). Technologically, ATi is seriously a step ahead here, actually several steps considering the on package memory/external processing it has attached. While Cell is cool, keep in mind it is simply an art of stringing 7 dumb/simple processors up to one smart one- the 360 simply uses 3 smart ones. Not as much raw power, but far more, shall we say, acrobatic. There are arguments for either, but for games, the 360 wins on both accounts (and dont bring up that dual 1080P shit, yeah it's cool, and so are dual 243T's- and almost no one can, or chooses to, afford them, as old as the 243T's are now and the 1080P displays will be when PS3 arrives).

Oops, I ranted. Was that on topic?

The Sanyo Vizon models are very good sets. Only the 30" is wide screen whereas the 27" and 32" are standard 4:3 aspect ratio.

Unfortunately, you can only get them from WalMart. Also, I heard that the 30" model is going to be discontinued.

Of the three, I'd get the 30" wide screen.
