there is a 27" Apple Cinema Display locally on Craigslist, just have a few questions before i go for it....

1) As a 2nd owner does it still get covered under warranty?

2)Whats the policy/whatnot for dead pixles the like (dont want to drop ~600 on a monitor and have a dead pixel pop up)

1) The warranty is based on the date of purchase, so ask for a reciept if you can. It carries over from owner to owner. Ask for the serial number and check it out through Apple's website: https://selfsolve.apple.com/agreementWarrantyDynamic.do - That will tell you when its warranty expires. If it's still in warranty you can extended it with Applecare.

2) I don't know the specific dead-pixel limit, but I've heard stories of Apple replacing ACDs with just one dead pixel, or any strange discoloration. Apple is extremely good about replacing products with any hardware defect, Cinema Displays or otherwise. I hope you have an Apple Store near you.

very nice to know guys.....so is the receipt needed? Haven't had the guy respond yet, hoping he hasn't sold it..... at least hope he responds before I decide not to impulse buy :D

Whenever I went to apple with a problem with my macbook or Iphone, they never asked for a receipt, so technically you dont need one. They just looked up the warranty and registration tied to the serial number.

I would try to get it from the owner just in case apple does ask for it for whatever reason.
