2600XT worth it?

So my Dell's 9600XT is slowly dying. Fan is going kaput and honestly, the frame rate on the desktop is like 5 fps (moving the mouse results in VERY choppy video)


Anyways, I was gonna get a new video card and stick it in there and have the Dell function as a server. I was gonna look for something under 40 bucks since I barely need video on the server than it hit me. I've been out of the fold for quite sometime, why not get a decent video card and start folding again?

I was looking at the 2600XT on newegg, seems that I can get one for 100 bucks. I'll look around for a used one, but I was wondering, what kind of PPD would I be seeing?
 
Or you could even look at an HD4850.... Evil just picked up three for $149 at BB.... you might have to argue a bit with the manager to get the 25% VisionTek discount, but there have been several around here who have been able to get that price...

There are tons of both nVidia cards & ATI cards that run the new GPU2 clients that work off of AGP. Right now, according to everything I've seen around this forum, the 8800GT is the best bang for the buck, but they are all PCIe. The only decent cards that have AGP are the 3800 series, and they do around 1500-2000 PPD.

Which NVidia AGP cards are compatible with the GPU2 client? I did a quick search and the most recent I've seen are 7000-series cards. As far as Ati is concerned, there will soon be a 3870 AGP card. Haven't heard anything on a 4000-series yet.

Only 8000 series and up can run the GPU client, so looks like it's going to have to be the ATI route.
