2600K worth it still?

My friend just got accepted to Med school and decided to start returning the parts to his new PC he got 2 weeks ago...

He called me yesterday and asked if i wanted to buy it for 250$ never even opened... He got it with the frys deal so hes only making the money back.

for 250 is it worth it to upgrade from my 860? I mainly game and do a bit of photo restoration on the side and encoding when im converting and burning movies...

Will get the board at the end of summer (Maximus IV maybe?)

It's a good deal since the 2500k is still sitting just under that on Newegg.

If you want to do photo restoration and video encoding faster, then yes, it'll be worth it. Or you just want a processor you can overclock to more than 4.5 ghz. Otherwise, you'll see no performance benefit.

Or you can buy it from him for $250 and sell it yourself for market value.

I think ill just go for it then sell the current Chip and Mobo to pay off some of the Maximus IV
