I dont know very much about video cards, but i bought a new computer and upgraded the video card to the ati 2600. Everything seems to work fine. I mostly play world of warcraft, but when i try and play the multi-player (single player works fine) Call of Duty 4, while it initially loads, it gives me an error message. Something about not being able to use an extended desktop till i disable my stretched desktop.

Ive tried changing my background to center or tile, but doesnt seem to help. Maybe im overlooking something in the catalyst control center?

Doesn't sound like a problem with the video card. It sounds like a software problem. Try re-installing COD4 (yeah, redundant answer, but that's all I could come up with atm :p)

are you using 2 monitors?

that is what that error message is stemming from, if you are using 2 monitors disable one of them and see if the game loads

i'll re-install tonight. I dont run a second monitor. Maybe it might have to do with the 2ports? I notice i have 2 dvi ports?? Currently i use the one closest to the motherboard. However when i use the dvi to dvi (comp to monitor) and reboot my monitor is blank. I use a little converter so i can continue to use the old style (serial port???) Not sure if i got the naming right. :p

I was assuming that it was just a Vista problem, but i know now that im not the only one with it. Other forums, people are stuck too. I did initially install COD4 before i upgraded my video card. Maybe its something in the installation.

yea, ive tried both. Only difference now is, when COD4 fails, it doesnt give me a solution. ITs weird, because single player mode works fine, Its just the multiplayer.
