260$ fan controller?

Okay, this might be slightly ranty...

I was just cruisin' the web ( ), when I came across a €200 fan controller. You heard right, 200 Euros, or 260 US Dollars. I was intrigued. For that kinda cash, I could get a good mobo and an A64 3200. So obviously, that fan controller must be one [H]ardkore machine. Badder than badass.

Turns out I was wrong. It essentially does what a classic fan controller does. it measures temps (without all that annoying accuracy), and tries to regualte fans based on these temps. Like quite a few PWM systems, it fails miserably.

But wait! There IS a difference!!! The Innovatek Fan-O-Matic has an uber-1337 LCD display on it! w00t! Ant there's more! There are inline temp probs avalible for it, if you want to measure your water temps, that's because its SPECIALLY DESIGNED for watercooling (reason why this is here and not in main cooling).

But really... WHY IN THE WORLD yould ANYONE spend money on this...

The thing is made by a known german W/C outfit, and comes with stuff like flow meters and in-line temp probes n shizz. Also, Aqua computer makes a similar thing that's capable of controlling its 12v pumps, including "Pump Overclocking".

I think he is just refering this post to the Innova model. The Fan-O-Matic seems just like a trumped up fan controller with a no frills LCD and no special features. As a community we havent really heard many things about this unit so I cant really comment on anything past the obvious. The only other "high end fan controller" that I know of is the Aquaero LCD and VFD models which many on this board and even myself have first hand experience with. We all give it the thumbs up, its super nice. I could go on but at risk of sounding like an infomercial.

Something like this can do anything you want. With a little coding it can do much more at half the price and it looks much better than most of the others I've seen around. Multiple temp probes that allow the fans to adjust speed relative to water temps. Pretty nice.
