26" Widescreen LCD TV...?

I recently purchased a $2000 dollar LCD TV made by Panasonic. It is model TC-26LX20. I also purchased a 150 dollar HDMI->DVI cable. The Hdmi connects to the back of the TV and the DVI connects to the back of my PC. Well..No matter what resolution I select..about an inch or so all around the desktop is cut off..I can only select HD resolutions, 600x480, 1024x720, 1280x720, if I select anything else, the TV wigs out. The PC I am running this on..the specs are in my sig..is there a way to fix this?
 
You'd probably get a better answer in the HTPC forum, rather than here in the Display forum.
