256 MB or 128MB?

Is the only difference between 128 and 256 MB cards the ability to perform better at better FSAA and Aniso settings? Also - if a review doesn't state what the memory value the card is, is it presumed to be the lower value?

if they don't tell you exactly what they are going to sell you dont buy from them.
 
Depends on the card. Radeon 9600pro's with 256mb ram normally do 400/200 instead of 400/300, which makes them a lot slower. 256mb ram is only worth it on higher end cards, and maybe not even then.

Exactly, history as shown that the first generation of cards with the increase in memory almost will never use it. I could have gotten my GF3 with 128MB ram but it wouldn't make a difference in even today's games because the card would run too slow, even with the ram, on a game that can actually utilize all 128MB.
