2500k quiet cooling

Wondering what cooler to get for a 2500k in a raven 2. Currently not oc, but would probably go to 4.5 area for shit and giggles. I hear good things about 212. But also heard it's loud in the top end. Quiet is important, willing to pay extra for it. What should I look at?
 
212+ is a good budget and price/performance cooler, probably the best price/performance value you can get.

There was a H60 deal for about $50. At that price, you can't really beat its performance, especially with a second fan. And also relatively quiet, it can cool more with less noise than the 212+.

Otherwise, just see what coolers can fit in your budget, and then look up the reviews of them. The Prolimatech Megahalems is a top-end cooler, as well as the NH-D14. My favorite is the Prolimatech Genesis.
 
I have the raven 02-EW and use the 620 cooler in a push/pull config, (one fan from the cooler and one fan from the case), and its almost dead silent. The only thing I can hear from my raven case at all is the damn WD black hard drive. Its crazy noisy from a silent setup....

I run a 2600k OC'd @ 4.8 GHz
Idle is 37/38c
Full load is upper 60's to low 70's c - depends on what i'm doing. If it involves both my 6970's running it's on the higher end, if not the lower.

The fans are virtually silent. You'll pay for it tho, I had to order the fans and HS from different shops and had them delivered... But now that i've got it, I love it!
 
a hyper212+ with 2x Gelid Silent 12 pwm fans is yeilding excellent and near silent results.


the stock fan on the hyper 212 is ok but it gets annoyingly loud when it ramps up IMHO

I ditched the stock fans and got 2x Gelid silent 12 fans and a gelid pwm splitter


these are the results w/ i5-2500k @ 4.3Ghz (x43 multiplier) even when the fans ramp up to 1500 they are next to silent.. very nice.

the fans are cheap also @ $10~ each



i got my hyper212+ for $20 at fry's and the fans and splitter for $25 from mwave

for sub $50 i'm very pleased... honestly you could also save $15 and skip the 2nd fan and splitter and see a couple degrees higher temps with a single fan set up.
 
Using a Thermalright HR02 Macho on my 2600K, it idles around 30*C on all cores (haven't lapped the CPU), although I did have do cut about 5mm off the bracket to get it to fit my motherboard (couldn't get an "asus bracket" so made the default one fit)
