2500 at 3200 overclocking - problems

This is strange. I've been questioning my system's performance with my overclocked 2500 at 3200. My system doesn't crash when I do it but the temperature reads REALLY High. After playing about 30 minutes of ut2k4 it's at 73c. And sometimes it gets hot because of some dust, so once I clear out the dust with compressed air the temp will drop a little.

My system is:

Asus a7n8x-deluxe
amd xp 2500@3200 (11x200)
1gig crucial 3200 ram

I have good cooling in the system. I've got the slk-900 heatsink with a really good fan. I bought Artic silver 3 compound but haven't put it on the heatsink yet. Argh, this is just so strange. My heatsink doesn't get THAT hot but it's always warm when the system is on. It gets really hot when there's dust and stuff.

Help me with proper cooling for this overclock. I don't want to damage my processor :(
 
Maybe the HSF isn't installed properly? maybe you should try taking it off and putting it on again... remember to clean off the old thermal compound.. also.. i would say go with artic silver 5.. good stuff.. by the way .. i am also over clocking a 2500 to 3200 and at full load with AC off, in this dead heat summer i get about 56c.. though i'm stil testing with prime 95 right now.. i got about 8 more hours to go before i hit the 24 hr mark with prime. And like i said.. i haven't seen the temp go over 56c
 
The problem sounds like it could be case ventilation. Take the side pannel off of you case and look at your temps. They may drop by 10C. Worked for me. It that is not a permenant option then concider ducting.

if your case has good airflow, taking off the side panel should increase temps because the air no longer has a clearly defined path to follow.
 
mine overheats so i bought zalman 7k but still heats up when ambient temp is high. run it with case open(i have shxtty aopen hq45 case) and 200x10@1.55v all the time avoid overheating problem. 35w mobile xp2400, 45w mobile xp2600, (and maybe latest desktop xp2500+) should fix overheating problem at 2.2ghz..
 
Can i lower the voltage on a Asus a7n8x deluxe...my current voltage reads as 1.69
