250 PsU + Mid range card = ok ?

I have a 250watt psu and im wonderinf if i can throw in a 256 mg card something like a x800 or something ? WIll i be fine? I have a dvd player and 2 hard drives connected.

I'd be careful if I were you. It depends on the quality of said power supply.

you could try a geforce 8600 or radeon 2600

Depends on the card. I can personally confirm that X800 serieswill not work with 250 W. 7600 GT does, and 7900 GS should.

Is there any other information you can provide about the PSU? Brand? amps on the 12v?
The X800 series were pretty power hungry cards so I would have to say not to risk it, however more information on your current system could be rather helpful.
