Crayox said:It seams so. We all thought 2407 would have input delay fixed or something but it seams that the word of the people doesn't reach the big guys. To bad, for them actually.
bdeshong said:Don't you all think you may be being a tad quick to judge here? Shouldn't we wait for a review from a more reputable, US-based site, such as AnandTech, Tom's Hardware, Hexus, etc.? These are also first revision 2407's, and it's been a good 4-6 weeks now. Perhaps the US will get a second revision?
I wouldn't say that the 2407 is WORSE than the 2405, or at least that's not how I interpret it. Although, admittedly, I'm really not going to be gaming on my LCD; I want the widescreen format because it's going to be hooked up to a Mac Mini w/ DVI. I've also got a 42" plasma TV for a reason -- DVD's and high def content -- I don't need an LCD monitor for that, nor would I want to use it for such purposes.
Having owned and run dual 2001FP's for years now, they've been great for me, but I'm looking to consolidate deskspace and save power. I also prefer the bezel and general new design of the 2407.
Just throwing it out there...
JayD said:Yeah, Dell is going to release a product update that is inferior to the previous model. That makes really good business sense. Dell would do something like that. Idiots.
Bacillus said:Perhaps I have my Aluminum foil hat on too tight - but let me put forward my theory. I think the review is a plant by Dell, with the expressed intent of moving excess 2404s they have before the 2407 comes out. If the 2407 begins to get a bad early rep, many 'in-the-know' fence sitters will jump on the 2404, w/ minimal price cuts.
I also think reverse vampires and the Rand corporation have a hand in this, but Im not sure.
aznx said:And there's another thing..the new 2407FPW ain't gonna be cheap..or have discounts, probably until atleast the end of the year.![]()
Coldtronius said:And thats different from any other new Dell LCD?
aznx said:Oh I meant that since I ordered it $750 shipped today..even if the 2407FPW came out tomorrow, I wouldn't get it..$1000 is too much for me. That $250...could get me a better videocard or something.
Askanison said:Got 2407wfp for US680, but after 5weeks the manufacturer, Benq still cannot deliver, may have to wait for another 2 weeks... Early japanese reviews, says some problems through DVI input, and apparently it cannot support 1080i throught dvi.
Dell Japan had the offer on 21th March for 2 days, at the same price it was selling 2450fpw for 3 weeks. I guess most Japan residents bought it at that period, but Benq can`t deliver on the goods until this week. Since 23th March 2407wfp has been hovering around U$ 800 and recently 2405fpw appear to be sold again at U$ 40 cheaper & a presumed faster delivery.aznx said:Where'd you get the 2407WFP for $680 at? Anyways it has that gay text problem which Dell Japan says is normal..so fuck that shit and the 1080i isn't really supported..that blows chunks too![]()
aznx said:Just got a 2405 from Brad for $750 shipped w/tax..sure it's a little bit much compared to the $650 deals..but I'll see how it goes. Maybe I'll just get it shipped back if and when the 2407FPWs get better...if they do.
Nzo said:For those of you who are experienced with Dell pricing, do you see the 2407 being available for less than ~850 or 800 when its released? If not I'd rather just get a 2405 right away.
bdeshong said:I'm assuming that you mean a Dell salesperson named Brad? And if so, do you happen to have an extension or direct dial number for him?
If I could get a 2405FPW for $750 shipped, I'd probably just go ahead and get one today. It will be a while before we see 2407WFP deals.
I may wait'll May 3rd regardless...tough call. Only another few days, though!
bdeshong said:Yeah I agree with this. I can get a 2405FPW from Dell Home right now for $789 + tax with free shipping. I'd like to call them to see if they can get it to $750 like they did for the guy above. I kinda have issues paying that much for it when there's a new model coming out next week.
These reviews don't sound promising. Maybe they'll release the 2407WFP next week and run a 20% or even a 25% off the 2405FPW starting next Thursday or Friday.

bdeshong said:Also, where did you get WiPro contact info from? What do they do, and how is an individual buyer such as yourself able to go through them?
gazza_new said:ARGHHHHH! I've waiting so long for this screen. I just don't know what to do now. I love the look of the 2407!
WHAT SHOULD I DO?
Nzo said:I'm in the same boat and I think I'm going to go with the 2405. Heres why
I'm tired of waiting
Wipro deal is about to end
I love the looks of the 07 but really, how often are you looking at the monitor stand and not the screen? The improved looks arent worth the wait to see if the monitor quality problems have been blown out of proportion.
Price: wont be as affordable as the 2405 for quite a while which means even more waiting.
LostStorm said:Dell offical comment is the 2407 is not being delay and theres is no manufacturing problem with it. Well if you think the 2007 has banding problem, then 2407 is total crap, check out this link.
