Has anyone played around with the service menu?

I am trying to figure out an alternate way of dropping the brightness on the vga input.

Would video gain and offset settings affect this? I am doubting that they will without negatively affecting color performance, but I thought I'd check around.
 
If you have an nVidia GPU, lower Gamma to 75~88% in the ForceWare control panel. :)
