anybody with a 2405fpw seen this phenomenon

I've just taken delivery yesterday
everything looks amazing, except when the screen is set to a really light-colored solid background, you can see a very hazy dark spot just left of centre (the pixels there are working, they just look slightly dimmer

when cleaning the screen, this point on the screen shows up first with the swirly LCD patterns

do you know what I mean? does this phenom exist on anybody else's?

I've included a digi-cam photo of what i mean - you can see the dark area quite well against the light-grey background, just to the top-left of the cursor

This is practically the same exact problem that I had with the monitor... In fact, it looks like they sent you the exact one I sent back to Dell. Send it back and get a replacement - it's a defective monitor

is it a straightforward procedure to get an exchange thru Dell?

and are people's replacements working OK/fault-free?
 
Definatly return that. As long as you're in the first 21 days they'll replace with a brand new one. I have a perfect 2405, and it's awesome. Some people have bad luck, but i think there are plenty of good ones out there, so try again!

I was wondering if it was just bad luck, or whether this was just "one of those things" with LCD technology - it's hard to see the problem unless you choose the light, solid background colour

I hope my next one is "perfect" so I'll give Dell a call on Monday and see how it goes

don't know what I'll do if I get the same thing next time though!!! - just have to keep everything crossed...

does anybody know what causes this phenomenon? has anybody else seen it?? is it a problem with the very nature of LCD manufacture in general, or just a duff Dell one-off cock-up?
