We have a box here at home that has dual cpus and we just put two Athlon 2400+ XP and converted them to MPs to run dual cpus. One of the cpus kept getting very hot and it had very good contact with the PAL 6035 heatsink and it was very evident the arctic silver was getting spread all accross and good contact was being made. The other cpu is running around 55* C and the other cpu was running VERY hot at around 186* F/85* C and needless to say its fried and has a large black mark on the backside and is for sure a gonner. The other cpu is still in the system and seems to be running fine.
The other specs are motherboard is a MSI K7D Master dual cpu board
550watt Enermax PSU
6 scsi 15k rpm drives, 2 scsi controllers, 2 burners (1 cd, one dvd)
I'm wondering if something is wrong with the motherboard and its not controlling the voltage to the cpu correctly and is giving them too much voltage.
System temp is 28* and the one 2400+ XP --> MP is running about 53 C.
