Ok, so now everyone is raving about how great the OCing potential is on the 2400+mobile, my question is, "are they locked now"? if not is it the older models with 266FSB or the ones with 333FSB? is there a specific stepping? And do mobile fit just fine in regular motherboards. I would really like to get one if possible, i'm looking for a new cpu (since my 3000+ died on me) that I can get the most out of for a good price the 2400+ mobile has decent price, but i would really like if you guy's could help me with these questions thx.

the 2400+ mobile isnt locked now.

i have never seen a 2400+ with 333fsb, they all have 266.

it fits fine in a regular motherboard.

the 333mhz is a non barton core, that runs at 2.0 ghz vrs the bartons 1.8 ghz

the 333 are the older chips

the 266mhz version is better than the 333mhz. the 266 is based off the newer, better barton core.

personaly I would just get the 266mhz barton chips and overclock that ,reason being is that you have more of the front side bus to play with.

mobile cores HAVE to be multiplier unlocked. Why? Because that's how the thing saves power consumption. . .changing the multiplier on the fly.

I just got my 2400XP-M up to 14x166=2.34GHz today. . .and I'm not pushing it at ALL. Great chip.

Have you tried lowering the multiplier for a higher fsb overclock?

Uh... ok

200x10 is better than 166x12 (both are 2ghz)

Higher FSB = higher performance

On my mobile 2400+ i got from newegg last week, the multiplier is unlocked below 13.

13 AND ABOVE 13 IS LOCKED STILL

its default fsb is 166, but you can put at 200+ easily, and it is a barton core. my specs are below

not sure what happened, but I loaded my new mobile 2400+ into my Epox last night and it was only giving me mults up to 13x. While I was testing, I noticed that all of a sudden i could get mults up to 19x. Not sure what I did...I reset the CMOS and after going back into Bios, I could still see up to 19x. Oh, and WinXP pro recognizes my mobile 2400+ as a K9 Duron.
