I'm getting a SSD to run VMware guest OSes only (host OS will be on another drive), probably 5-6 guests will be running on this SSD. As it will be used extensively for vm purpose, speed (probably also IOPS) is not the main deciding factor, longevity (NAND endurance) and stability is. Budget is ~ $120, I'm leaning toward the Crucial M500 240GB since I have had a really great experience with the M4, wonder if you guys have any other suggestion?

FWIW, I bought that same drive for the same task due to the same experience. Though it's only been a week so I can't really offer any more on this particular setup. The only knock against the M500 I can think of is that it's slow on writes, though I don't think it'll be a big deal given the load and expectations. Also, NewEgg has it for $110 currently.

In general I'd recommend sticking with MLC-based NAND over TLC (e.g., the Samsung 840, 840 Evo). I'm also biased against Sandforce-based controllers, though that may just be my aversion to using compression to inflate the numbers (not sure if the Intel units do this, as they only use the hardware and write their own firmware).
