I have a budget of $500-600 and i'm looking for a new 24" monitor. Basicially I would use it for mostly surfing the web however i would like it to have vibrant colors but at the same time when I do game that it doesn't have huge input lag! So is there any good suggestions for an all around monitor for such at this price? I seen the HP LP2475 as a good choice. BTW im upgrading from a 226BW (samsung panel)

I think you answered your own question. :)

With LP2475 you have to use Firefox 3 with colour management enabled.
Shame is, we truly lack an affordable 24" IPS based sRGB monitor. For many NEC 2490 is just too expensive.

Where do you live?
I think LP2475w is worth a try. You can get a colour managed browser, media player and image viewer. So the only problem is with the Windows GUI - that can be solved by not using red colour too much - and in games, which can be solved :-/ But maybe you will actually like the strong colours of wide gamut.

Augh kinda of a bump, been busy in the last month going in and out of the country so I haven't had time to buy it. So it looks like the LP2475w is the undisputed choice for me?

Yes its decent monitor if you dont mind the oversaturation (wide gamut) As far as i know there is no better monitor for that price.
