24 pin converters

As long as the older psu has the needed amps to run the new setup it, should be fine.. I used an adapter like that on a 300watt Sparkle back when mobos first started switching over to 24pin, it worked fine.. Also you may not even need the adapter, many mobos will work with just the 20 pin plugged in.. Especially older mobos.. See the mobos manual or email the manufacturer to be sure..

But, I still recommend a modern, quality brand psu of appropriate size for your new build... The power distribution between 3.3, 5, and 12 v was different.. They used to pack a lot of the amperage into the 5v rail and now they pack most of it into the 12v rail..

Thanks for the info

The PSU I was planning on using is a Vantec stealth 420w that is a few years old but in pretty good condition. I will eventually upgrade it to a 240 pin
