Thanks for that info. That's quite a jump from 19" to 22". Why drop 20" widescreen? I thought sales were pretty brisk in this segment? Would the 22" take over the price point of the 20"? That would be good news.travbomb said:20 and 21 inch wide will be the next two to dissapear. The market is moving towards 19 wide, 22 wide, 24 wide and a few 26 wides.

Too bad 23" wide never caught on. A 23" widescreen is the perfect height and pixel pitch to complement my 20.1" 4:3 monitors.
Ah, makes sense. Less wasted material with the 22" than the 20". So looking into your crystal ball, do you know if that means they'll pass on some of the savings to us and put the 22" in the price point currently occupied by the 20", or will manufacturers just price the 22" higher?travbomb said:Yeah 23 inch is being replaced by 24 inch as we speak. I dont think 23 panels will be arond much longer
reason 22 inch is in and 20 inch is out is because of of the cost to cut the panel. Manufacturers can cut more 22 inchers from a substrate of glass more effeciently than 20 inch wide. this in turn leads to a lower costing panel and higher margins for them.
