23'' HP 2335

I hate to nitpick but 16ms is the response time. The monitor probably has a 60Hz refresh rate. Honestly the higher response time probably wouldn't bother me too much for most games unless I was playing a competetive online game ie Counter-Strike, CoD, or UT.

Well playing on a 18ms response time. ( I keep saying rr instead of rt). I don't see much blurring. How is the quality of the panel?

I tried three of these back when they were over $1000, and they all had multiple stuck pixels, cloudy backlight bleeding, image persistence, and I could clearly see dithering in gradients, something nobody else ever mentioned.

That panel is also known for having problems with staining and turning pink. If you look at the seller's comments, it says "Slight pink hue around the edges on white background." It doesn't have HDCP support either since it's so old, but it has component inputs.

The one good thing about it is a low-lag IPS panel, and I didn't find the response time to be a problem compared to the PVA panels that were out at the time.

HDCP is required for playing Blu-ray movies (legally at least), or if you want to use the monitor with a cable box or PlayStation 3 using a DVI-HDMI cable.

For anything else, it doesn't matter.

You can use the component inputs, but the quality might not be as good.

Like those RCA things? Red, yellow and white thingys?

Well I would only be using yellow since thats video.

Yellow is composite, which it also has, but the quality won't be good. Component and S-Video are better. Component or HDMI is required for high definition devices, while S-Video is typically supported on standard definition devices. Component has red/green/blue plugs. I'd only use the yellow plug if that's the only thing the device supports.

Article or something I can read? Googled with no success.
Are you googling the HP 2335 or L2335?

You can search the [H] forums for the "L2335" and you'll get lots of results. Most people seemed to like the monitor a lot despite some of the issues it had. They used to auction on ebay for around $125-$150, and personally i wouldn't pay any more than that for it.

If you're looking for a budget $200 IPS panel you may want to check out the Dell 2209WA

This was a great monitor back in its day. Unfortunately it's day has passed. Why in particular do you want this screen?

The component is limited to 480p if I remember correctly. Slight pink hue means the whole screen is pink, but it is worse on the last inch around the screen panel's edge.

You can do better (as SJetski71 suggested) with the Dell 2209WA unless you specifically need more than DVI and VGA.

It looks misleading because either the camera or the photographer screwed up the white balance to make everything look more green and less red.

Pink everywhere. Don't waste your money.

You'd be better off looking for a 23" Apple Cinema display off ebay than this, or wait for the new LG IPS screens to hit.

I absolutely love mine. The pink hue isnt really an issue unless the screen is completely white. i asked my roomate to look at mine he couldnt see the pink until i pointed it out. It also doesnt have hdcp support.Other than that, its an amazing monitor. Tons of inputs, picture in picture, 1:1 pixel mapping, no ghosthing in games.

If your willing to take the risk, id say go for it. Just make sure they have a good return policy just in case you get a dud. Im personally waiting for geeks.com to restock them so i can buy another one

Not worth it. Panel type does not override all other quality concerns.
