So I'm going to grab one of these for Christmas, but can't figure out if there's any reason *not* to get the 2220WM. I've searched around, and while there's little to find in regards to it, what I have found has been positive.

I don't know much about LCDs, even after reading up, I'd trust others to point me in the right direction. The main difference I've noticed between the two of these is:

response contrast ratio
226BW: 2ms 700:1
2220WM: 5ms 1000:1
710T: 12ms 600:1 (current monitor)

Just looking at those numbers, it seems the 2220WM is better. I've been using a 710T for 3+ years, which has a much greater response time, but has never had any ghosting, which I assume is the main point when it comes to response time.

Considering the improvement in color I'd be getting, is there any reason not to get the 2220WM? This is mainly for gaming, occasional movies

The 226bw is more than likely 1000:1 as well but I think it depends on the exact panel you get. In all honesty the 226bw is the higher end model (not that either of them are high end). The 220WM has integrated speakers which a lot of people dislike and the response time isn't quite so good for gaming. Assuming the contrast ratios are even, both could be from 700:1 to 1000:1 depending on the panel, the 226bw is better in all other regards.
