Hello there!
ive got a problem with my glorious 2209wa-trying to force 72hz.
im using powerstrip to force 76,416hz (no buzzing sound,or anything bad happens to the screen) but after i force 72hz (for watching movies, for full vsync) it switches, osd shows 72hz,and then after like 5 seconds it reverts to 60hz standard.

im adding what settings i exacly use as attachment, hope that someone can help me with forcing 72hz. (best if 71,928hz for perfect match with 23,976fps movies)

and by the way, another question, should pc with phenom II x2 3,1ghz and radeon hd4870 be able to play hi10p 720p video without dropped/delayed frames using mpc-hc with lav decoders/haali for mkv and madvr?
also can it run PAL dvd's with deinterlacing? (when i turn deinterlacing in madvr i suddenly drop 50% of frames, but i think pc got enough resources to process that) im using newest catalyst drivers.
also,i happen to have really lot of delayed frames on hi10p,what could be the problem here?

edit: to clarify-when i set 72hz on powerstrip 2 things might happen
-screen osd still shows 76hz (when i switch from 76 to 72),after few seconds screen goes black and reverts to 60hz
-when doing this from 60hz screen reports 72hz in the osd but after few seconds powerstrip reverts me to 60hz

well,my main problem is screen accepting the new refresh rate when im forcing it in powerstrip but after few seconds it goes black and back to 60hz-looks like my screen only accepts 76,416hz for some reason

i just need a fellow 2209wa user that will tell me his timings in powerstip to force 75 and 72hz

PowerStrip is not ideal for creating custom resolutions. It controls the video card directly through its own driver, so it can't tell Windows or the video driver about the new refresh rate, and sometimes weird things happen like what you described. It also doesn't work with newer GPUs.

Try my Custom Resolution Utility instead. You can add both 76 Hz and 72 Hz as detailed resolutions. The settings you're using for 76 Hz are nearly the same as the "Best for LCD" timing in my program, but I remember the 2209WA needed the vertical back porch lowered to 28 (vertical total = 1087) to make 76 Hz work (switch back to "Manual" to change it). "Best for LCD" should work for 71.928 Hz and 75 Hz. Be sure to reboot after making changes.

thanks for help, but unfortunately im on windows xp-your page says "
Requirements:
Windows Vista or later (Windows XP does not support EDID overrides)"

There are a couple of other ways to add custom resolutions, but I don't know if they'll work in this case.

This method probably won't work because it doesn't let you specify timing parameters: http://www.wsgf.org/forums/viewtopic.php?f=63&t=21972

I don't know if this works with the XP driver, but this method appears to let you specify custom timing parameters (SyncStart is active pixels + front porch): http://www.wsgf.org/node/19799

The only other alternative is to flash the EDID, if that's even possible with your monitor.
