Here is my dilemma so sorry for another post about this

The rig I will be using is in my sig right now, 9600, 7200 etc.

Right now I am using an old 17inch lcd [1280x1024] and a cheap-ish 19inch lcd hdtv 720p [1400x900]

(currently have a new desk but those are the 2 monitors.)

Right now I use the 17inch as my main monitor most of the time, and the other one for a tv most of the time aside from sometimes when I need more work space.

I want to get either a 22inch or a 24inch to use as my main monitor and use the 17 as the secondary monitor which would leave the 19inch as just a tv to use for the most part.

I do game a bit, and do video editing, but not a lot of photo editing. My camera captures in 1080 and I have a ps3 so I have a little desire for something 1080, but I don't know how important it really is. I also am concerned that my video card won't handle a 24 as well as I want it to.

for a 22incher I would want to spend < 250 and < 350 for the 24incher. In my position what would you upgrade? :p thanks for reading and not getting ahngry at meh :)

You won't find a good quailty 24" display in that price range. My HP w2408h was about 500 when new and still goes for something in the mid 400 range. Perhaps 399 or so on sale. Most other good 24" panels are the same way.

However that is prime territory for a very good 22" panel. The LG L227 is supposed to have great IQ and performance. The HP w2207h is excellent as well (just calibrate your color :)). The Samsung T series (T220) is well regarded for performance, but not necessarily color. Although it and similar 22" Samsung panels are said to have better than average viewing angles. (2253, etc).

If you really want a good deal and don't mind shopping around, try going to smaller computer stores and seeing if they're trying to clear stock.

I got my HP w2408h three weeks ago, new, for under 300$ :)

I absolutely love it too :)
w2408h owners, represent!! :) :) :)

get a w2207h is the best

I do enjoy my HP w2207h. Tried a number of monitors over the last two months, but its the best so far. I'm also coming from a 17" and a 22" wide is fine for me. A 24" would have been good too, but I didn't want to give up any framerates to a larger screen.

I agree with you guys on the HP monitors. I have both a 19" HP W1907 and 22" W2207H and image quality looks good and the monitor itself looks good to. But, do remember that these lcds have glossy screens and therefore you see more reflections on it if there's lighting behind you. The LG 227WTQ-PF that lawless mentioned earlier is a very good monitor. It's also a glossy screen. Both the HP W2207H and LG 227WTQ-PF monitors are on sale at Best Buy right now.

HP W2207H - $259.99

LG 227WTQ-PF $249.99

Note: The HP 22" has only a HDMI and VGA input with a HDMI cable included but, you need a DVI to HDMI adapter which they don't include. The LG 22" has HDMI, DVI and VGA input. Also, HP monitors warranty only covers 1 year. LG has 3 year warranty.
