22" 16:9 vs 20.1" 4:3

1680x1050 is 16:10. Not sure what you mean by "real screen state." But in WS games, you do see more than in 4:3.

i have a 20.1" 1600x1200 4:3 204b samsung lcd monitor. does a 22" 1680x1050 16:9 widescreen lcd have more, "real screen state" than my samsung?
The 20.1" 4:3 has 1.92 million pixels and a surface area of 192 square inches. It is 16 inches wide and 12 inches high.

The 22" 16:10 has 1.76 million pixels and a surface area of 218 square inches. It is 18.65 inches wide and 11.7 inches high.

Also, your more likely to find a very good quality S-IPS (Super In-Plane Switching) panel type on a 20.1" LCD as oppose to a 22" that's mainly 6 bit TN (Twisted Nematic) LCDs
