Last night my Viewsonic GS815 21" CRT) made a very loud *pop* noise. I think it was going in to standby mode at the time. Now it powers up normally but it just displays a very bright, very thin horizontal line towards the bottom of the screen, as if the electron beam wasn't being properly exapanded (vertically) to fit the entire screen. I can see the distinct blue color of the windows login screen when I turn it on but that doesn't help me much when it's only a 1/4" . The monitor was connected to an APC UPS so I doubt it was a surge.
So monitor experts, can you help me figure out what broke and how expensive it might be to fix? I'm guessing it will cost more than the monitor is worth at this point, but I figured I should at least ask.
