I'm looking for a widescreen monitor that has component inputs for my Xbox 360 as well as DVI and VGA for my PC. i am trying to decide between the Gateway FPD2185W and the Westinghouse LCM-22w2. Which one of these would you go with?

Also, if you have any other suggestions for a 21-22" WS monitor with component inputs for a similar price, they would be much appreciated. :)

Hey, it's funny how you brought this up because I have both of those monitors. Well...had 1 of them anyways but sold it. The Westy 22" is not bad overall. It's component inputs are good when playing DVD, PS2 hookup. I have connected the XBOX 360 to it and it looks ok. However, it doesn't compare in pic quality to this Gateway 24". I didn't get the chance to hookup the Xbox360 to the 21" Gateway but, I would assume it will be better in picture quality than the Westinghouse. This is becaue the 21" Gateway uses the S-PVA panel like the 24" LCD. The Westy 22" uses 6 bit TN panels which doesn''t produce as vibrant colors as an S-PVA panel. However, 6 bit TN panels don't suffer input lag as much as S-PVA panels so...although you may get better pic quality on an S-PVA panel, you may notice some slowdowns on some games. But, for the TN panel, you may not get the greatest image quality but, you don't suffer from input lag. I did notice a slowdown in Gears Of War on the Gateway 24" in a scene. But, experienced no slowdowns on the 22" Westinghouse.

thanks for that, very helpful:)

if anyone else has any opinions, more help is definitely appreciated

Does your computers video card have a DVI out on it? If so you can always just hook the PC up to the DVI, and the Xbox 360 to the VGA. Therefore you wouldn't need to find a monitor that has component inputs. That could open up your search a little bit, to other models. Of course you'd have to purchase the VGA cable for the Xbox, which is sold seperately.

Another thing to keep in my is that the xbox 360's VGA output is for some reason (has yet to be corrected) overly bright. This effect is present on CRT and LCD alike. Component output on the other hand is good and even, so if you can get a monitor that has component output. Also remember that , Color reproduction is very important , reason why? cause you are gonna be up close and able to see every flaw on your monitor . As far as suggesting one that fits the bill? ...well if you can afford it get the 24 Inch Gateway and spend the extra money. The picture output is amazing, colors are even and no ghosting (just make sure you get one made during or after december) plus its 1920x1200 native. It has component, VGA and even DVI-D HDCP so you are ready for any copy protected content.
It also has PIP (picture in picture) so you can even watch tv while you enjoy it.
