20WMGX2 VGA question

Hi. I received my monitor yesterday. I have my computer connected using DVI cable. The picture is fantastic. I also have my Xbox 360 connected to this monitor using the VGA cable. I notice there seems to be horizontal lines runing up the screen at a very rapid pace. You can't really see it in environments that has alot of lighting, but, you can definetely see it in dark environments. It makes the image look like it isn't solid. tried hooking my computer up to the vga port with the same results. I also tried hooking my 360 to the component as well. Once again same result. DVI seem to be the only mode that doesn't have that probelm. I didn't experience this with my previous monitor (Dell 2005FPW). Also, I don't recall seeing that problem using the 215TTW. It kind of reminds me of composite video. Is this something normal for this monitor, or is there something wrong with it? Is anyone experiencing a simular situation? Thanks very much

my 20WGMX2 is a bit unstable in VGA mode. No rolling lines. However, if you look at gray areas they tend to flicker a bit. As in, 1 shade brighter . 1 shade darker, in very fast, but random repetitions. DVI is perfect, as your is.

I had bad luck and VGA-hooked-LCDs. The viewsonic wm2025 looked bad in VGA as well, but entirely different symptoms.

I really like this monitor, however, the problem with the vga is the only thing that might may actually force me to send it back. I find this problem pretty annoying. I wonder if this is something that can be fixed?

Get a better VGA cable if it's only doing it in VGA.

The cables that ship with most of these monitors are pitiful and offer no shielding at all. DVI aren't as susceptibe to interference as VGA, but it can still cause problems.

You can get a nice thick properly shielded cable from newegg for a few bucks.

I sent an email to NEC. They pretty much said the same. Check resolution, refresh rate, and try another vga cable. I've done all except the vga cable. When I get back from work later I will order a good vga cable. They told me to me if the problem continue either give them a call or exchange it at the place of purchase.
