Is this normal? Along the top of the screen, where there is stationary objects (like firefox header bar), the image gets burned into the screen, and I can see it after I take firefox away.
Has anyone else seen this before? I have turned my brightness down alot as well (10.9%).

LCDs don't burn in as they don't have a phosphor to burn. What you may be expirencing is image persistance, check your screen saver and power settings, i've never seen it happen when the the monitor isn't left on for hours at a time. But don't worry the problem isn't permenent more than likely.

I never saw anything like that on my mine. But I don't leave things in one place for very long. If I have something on and will be leaving monitor sit awhile I turn it off - usually with the remote. I don't know if a new monitor would have more of an image persistence proclivity but I have heard of a couple new monitors that had some bleed that fixed after first week of use. Apple has a page on IP and you should be able to fix anything untoward.

Its not burn-in, its image persistance. I have the Nec aswell and when i first got the monitor i left all setttings as is for about a week and i had the same thing happen to me lots. All you have to do it turn your monitor off for awhile and the image will go away. To make it stop happening all together you need to change your setting and make the screen darker which will also help with your blacks

It still happened with my brightness turned down though. I left the monitor on at night (meant to turn it off) but it was just in Sleep. I didn't see the image persistance at the top so it went away overnight, but my guess is it is going to come back. It's just really strange that it only happens at the top of the monitor, I would expect it along the bottom to, where the task bar is.

my settings are...

Brightnesss: 12.5
Contrast: 97.0
Black Level: 48.0
Sharpness: 50.0
Advanced DV Mode: ON
DV MODE: Standard
FINE: 42.8

Before it would happen to me after having mozilla open for like 10 minutes  and now that i use those settings i can leave mozilla open for hours and it never happens

I don't see a setting for Black Level or Fine? Where are they?

These options are only available when using VGA. But you want DVI for best picture quality.

I haven't experienced any image persistence on mine even after having the same screen up for hours, I have Advanced DV enabled when browsing which cuts the contrast in half but you shouldnt have to do this just to prevent image persistance (I do it to save my eyes since its so bright without ADV) seems to me like something might be wrong with your monitor....

Ok, I am using DVI. I don't know, I haven't noticed it yet this morning. I really noticed it yesterday when I was in the BIOS and the white text along the top was burned in for awhile.
