Some users have recently had their accounts hijacked. It seems that the now defunct EVGA forums might have compromised your password there and seems many are using the same PW here. We would suggest you UPDATE YOUR PASSWORD and TURN ON 2FA for your account here to further secure it. None of the compromised accounts had 2FA turned on.
Once you have enabled 2FA, your account will be updated soon to show a badge, letting other members know that you use 2FA to protect your account. This should be beneficial for everyone that uses FSFT.
UPDATE:12/09/07 sorry I have been busy with school, so I haven't been able to up date this much. My camera is MIA so I can show my progress but I have completed the basic frame and I'm working on mounting the motherboard tray and power supply now. My budget has been cut by $250 so water cooling this rig will have to come later, unless I want to switch from a 8800gtx to a 8800gt, (either way I will be stepping up to a 9800gtx upon their release in February) so I have to work out something for increased air flow. Tomorrow I intend on ordering my fans, power supply, and misc. hardware for the top panel.
UPDATE:12/16/07 I may have to put this project on the back burner if i cant get the right tools soon. If I put a hold on the project it would no longer be my main gaming pc, it would be a file server.
I recently came up with the idea to fit an ITX board into a 5.56mm case. Thought I was cool and unique, but now I'm glad that I'm not. I need advice. First all, I'm taking a slightly different approach. I'm cutting holes in the back for USB, Network and VGA ports. The main goal is to not open the top for it to run. I don't know how to do this. I know I can dremel it but I want it to look nice, and clean. Also, regarding the frame, what is "L stock" and where do I get it? How do I connect it? And what are the common pitfalls? I'll start a worklog shortly, but I need a bump to get started. Your log has been extremely helpful thus far.
Thanks!
well you can get the L stock at home depot, You can use screws or rivets to connect the L stock. I have put this project on hold until I can get the necessary tools to finish the job seeing as mine were stolen from my garage.
I am interested to see how this mod turned out. I am in the planning phase of starting my own ammo case mod and I'm still looking for ideas.
I found a steel ammo case thats is actually for night vision goggles that I think will be perfect for a M-atx setup. demensions are 11"w 12"h 5.5"d
I am already using one for a transportation container for my Wii. It comes with foam padding on the inside that can be removed if needed.
I am not sure if I want to cut the sides of the case or if I want all the connections to come out the top.
I never completed it, there was a huge space issue that I wasn't able to address, and I am not even going to talk about the cooling, I may start this back up, but I am un sure at the moment
I can see how it would be difficult to get full size desktop parts to all work, but if you aren't going for all out gaming performance, you can use a laptop hard drive, slimline dvd and a mATX pwer supply. I think that if the motherboard were mounted with the I/O panel facing the top under the lid and power supply mounted the same way (like this one) it would vent just fine.
This way also means you don't have to cut into the actual case. Besides the fact thats these boxes are a total pain in the ass to cut (thats kinda the point isn't it) it would mean that the box would still be almost indestructable for transportation. Of course, you would still have to remove the lid to use the machine.
I am thinking that this would make for a great LAN server. Not so much a high powered gaming rig.
I just got finished epoxing (sp?) part of my frame for my 5.56 ammo box. I'm doing two. The first is just to learn (which I'm not very far, and have already learned a ton) and is going to have uncovered cuts in the back and front. The second I'm using Bulgin screw caps for USB, and monitor. This one will hopefully be water resistant, but we'll see. I need to update my log.
