tbh it's not bad that the new generation needs more time. i'd be much more upset if i had to buy the new gen at the current crazy prices.

Realistic assessment​

  • Rumor status: Plausible, but unconfirmed

  • Competitive pressure: High, especially in the >$1,500 segment
  • Timeframe: Realistic in 2027 at the earliest
If AMD launches AT0, it will likely be as a prestige project with limited quantities. If not, RDNA 5 will remain positioned in the high-end performance segment, with prices between $700 and $1,000 as the likely focus.

In short: AT0 is currently more of a strategic option than a finished product. And as long as AMD does not officially confirm anything, it remains just that, a rumor with medium plausibility.

the rumoured at0->at2 drop off is quite subtancial

64 CU - 192 bits - 275 watt did feel like a 9070xt replacement (and close to what could be in the XboxX replacement) and probably trying to keep that price point (and if the 6000 series has launched could be more in the 5080 segment than the 6080 one).

Could be a big change but usually the high power version of what goes in consoles is more high of the mid instead of low of the high end (despite price), like what a 6750xt was.

ps5 pro = 9060xt
ps6 = 9070xt / (>10060xt )
xbox next = 10070xt (~3x PS5 pro)

xcloud = server (~8x PS5 pro)

The card mentioned is 5-15% faster (even more in RT titles) faster than the PS5 Pro but I am used to consoles getting "overhyped" as it target a lesser tech savvy segement of consumers.

Since it seems that I have to spell it out, I am alluding to the fact that AI data centers are currently jacking up the cost of all hardware with so far very little benefit. There is no good reason that it's gone nuts, it's just companies hopping on the band wagon.

I do not think any technology is good or evil. How we use it determines that. How we are currently using AI amounts to not much so far.

you seem to be right, MLID always tend to over-hype any AMD product launch like the PS5 pro, it is a power restricted without as much cache than a 6800

Really, so you can show me how the usage of energy consumption is realted to which services because just using a blanket statement would be les t han intelligent eg. we use A.I. for tasks that humans would be way slower at and use more energy at, but accodring to you it is bad simply because it is A.I.

We are at one of two conclusions here. you are completely ignoring my previous posts and my explanations of those posts to the point of complete nonsense.

This leaves us with two logical conclusions:

1. This account is a bot. It is displaying typical characteristics of a bot in that it can string together coherent sentences and incite arguments, but cannot follow a conversation in any way.

2. This is a real human being and is attempting to derail the conversation. This is an obvious and very poor attempt at misdirection to prove.... I'm right you're wrong? Well that's not uncommon on the internet. It's also a very common tactic employed by political activists and the like. Usually its executed far better but here we are.

I say we err on the side of caution and ban the account for being a bot. I was ready to put him/it on ignore after the first few posts I read anyway because asking inane questions vs adding to the conversation when you're a new poster tells me you're just here to argue.

Maybe we'll luck out and the dearth of affordable PC Hardware will bring about smarter development, increased efficiency, and better games.

The big interesting part of cloud gaming would be for publisher to go around the consoles-phones and not have to pay those platform (steam, Sony, MIcrosoft, Apple, Google) 15-30% charge on every transaction, Ubi-Epic-EA-TakeTwo-Tencent, etc... could think that making people install an app on a smartv and get to play games via streaming directly from them is a much easier ask, them buying many consoles or even installing and using many different store-launcher on PC.

People that have their hands on the overpriced consoles-phones, could probably want this to happen the less they can, better sales someone a consoles, have them pay for the compute and electricity, and still charge them monthly to play games like they do right now, the moat/retention is stronger and the competition much smaller, once you bought a consoles you are more commited to it than an smartv app (which everyone can starts...).

Sadly this is the path it will go also partly why I picked up a 5090 because for the first time in my adult life I'm not 100% sure we will get a next gen.
