Just thinking out loud here...

Is it possible to get a bit more "pop" in our weekly Folding update on the HardOCP main page? I know we all appreciate the current update, but EVGA is gaining on us daily. We need renewed excitement for Team 33! Possibly info about new members, restarted members, new clients/projects, overtakes, etc... just something to drive the competitive spirit that HardOCP visitors have!

What are the possibilities of a give-a-way of some sort? Winner based on a "why I fold" story to motivate everyone else???

We have more than double the inactive members of EVGA. If we can get even just a few of them restarted, it would be a HUGE help.

I'd love to hear your ideas and insight on how to put the hammer down and put some lengths back on EVGA!

Motivation starts at home, not on the forums. I still continue to remain active and I think I'm still over 1k PPD. I don't have a desire to increase my PPD anymore, as utility bills and noise are far more costly on my life than the satisfaction of moving ahead in PPD.

While I do have a competitive spirit, in this "game" finances are everything--being more skilled than your competitor doesn't give you much of an advantage, therefore it all comes down to cash. I'm not willing to spend an extra $450 / year (rough estimate) to run my home machine for an extra 6k PPD. The numbers simply don't matter that much to me anymore. :(

But yes, I do remain active, at least in my own little way. :) About 1 WU per day keeps me alive and well!

Is there an OS distro devoted to only F@H? Something like a Turnkey Linux distro that can run in a VM? Low overhead from the OS so the resources given are used by folding.
 
if your talking VM's... then notfreds is the way

There are two to my knowledge. NotFred and the EVGA image.

But I will work on getting a VM up and running on my Hyper-V from the previous suggestions.

I think many users forget that Kyle gives us Genmay Access for reaching certain F@H milestones. Which I think is awesome.

To be honest, the "money" they give away is a store credit and you max at $100 per year.
To even get the $100.00 you have to be folding a whole lot.

What helps the most is getting the word out, and letting them know what we are up to and working for.
 
We get a pretty good bonus for folding as is, at 500K you get a year sub to genmay, 1Mill, 2 year sub and at 1.5Mill you get lifetime access to GenMay which isnt bad at all.

Alot of people who fold here fold because someone in there family, or a friend / friends family has some sort of medical disorder than can be found and solved one day through folding, so alot of us fold for that reason alone.

Word of mouth really does the trick.....

Many people don't know about it altogether since it is rarely mentioned and never advertised. If this is really meant to be an incentive to fold, it should be mentioned in the forum-wide Genmay announcement, or at the very least stickied at the top of the DC forum.
